Maternity Style: The Kimono

IMG_4391.JPG

A kimono I’ve learned is a key staple in my maternity wardrobe. For many it’s something we already own in our closet. So lots of times it’s not a added cost to incorporate during the 9 months. It has many uses; throw on during the weekends to run errands, keeping you productive in the AC booming office, wearing as a bathing suit cover up, or as an alternative to a shawl for a evening out.

If you don’t own one I suggest you keep reading and purchase one immediately.

Most pregnant women tend to pair theirs with the popular spandex dress to show off the bump. I decided today to go for a look styled with denim. This particular kimono is from the online boutique Pink Blush. They offer versatile options for the woman that can take you beyond your pregnancy. And the price points are AMAZING!

I am wearing the Jade Tie Dye Lace Trim Maternity Poncho Kimono, which comes in 2 colors you can view here. What attracted me to this item was the vibrant colors that reminded me of the ocean, the high-low hemline, and the added touch of lace trimmings.

The jeans I am wearing are a wide leg cropped pair of maternity jeans with a elasticized waistband. Under the kimono I added a simple white camisole with spaghetti straps. To play off the tie dye print of the kimono, I added slingbacks in a similar print but a more neutral color. Finally I accessorized with a white shoulder bag and clear shades.

You can find a variety of kimono options on the Pink Blush website if tie-dye prints aren’t in the cards for you.  I am currently lusting over a mesh lace version you can view along with others, here
