Travel in Style: Destination Bali

After my wedding (which I promise to share pictures of soon), we took a 10 day trip to Bali. We split our time in Bali between Seminyak and Ubud. Arrival to our first destination from NY took a whooping 23 hours, but Qatar Airways made our flights so pleasant that the time went by as quickly as at could. And can I say how much I loved the purple decor of the plane!

We upgraded last minute to first class, using their online offer ( highly suggest waiting for this during low season travel times); and it was well worth it! Perks included premium drinks, personal seats, tailored food menu, a abundance of toiletries, attentive staff, and a separate entrance for the flight.

I found these Gucci Lawrence slides and Rag & Bone backpack at recent sales.

Locations and Accommodations

Seminyak - this is a mixed tourist / residential area on the west coast of Bali just north of popular Kuta. The atmosphere is much more laid-back than Kuta, and it is known as the spa and boutique shopping capital of Bali. Right up my alley!! We stayed at The One Boutique Villa which is located off the beaten path to your hidden oasis. There are only 6 villas in this resort, and the personalized services they provided outside of the honeymoon package was amazing.

Ubud - is considered Bali's cultural hub. Located in the cool mountains, it was one hour's drive north of the airport and was 1.5 hours away from our villa in Seminyak. We opted not to do a villa again, and instead stayed at The Alaya Resort. This place is in the center of all happenings in Ubud. The resort is built around a marvelous rice field and our deluxe room was decorated in marble and bamboo. Ubud District’s rainforest and terraced rice paddies, are dotted with Hindu temples and shrines, creating beautiful landscapes.

Fashion Tips for Bali:

  • Wear lightweight fabrics
  • Pack practical shoes
  • Sneakers with a rugged sole
  • Shorts- I tend to bring 2 pairs then various tops to pair it with.
  • Easy dresses that require minimal ironing

Some of my vacation looks can be seen below:

This Wolford Fatal dress was great to wear for 2 days. Once as a skirt shown here, then another day as a dress. This bag I bought at a local shop for $15!

This Rebecca Minkoff dress was dressy, yet casual enough to go from a day of sighting seeing to a sky view dinner. I paired it with the Stella McCartney Elyse Platforms, that survived a day of walking. Way to go Stella!!! You can find this shoe…

This skirt screamed honeymoon to me when I saw it. I kept my top simple to highlight the skirt.
