TJ Maxx and My New M.A.C

Yesterday I decided to make a trip to some store locations I haven't visited in quite some time; in downtown NYC. However my type of stores always remain the same;  Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx.

As always when looking for deals and discounts everyday or every store will not be a hit.  That was the case with both Burlington and Marshall's. In Burlington I did spy Bally knits on clearance for 29.98, and similar sweaters to those at the Elizabeth and James sample sale for 39.99. But the condition of the clearance items was not worth the even minimal price tag. I did see a display of great handbags by Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, and Chloe but the price was still too steep. In Marshall they displayed a sign for new clearance but the goods were not good enough to warrant any mention.

However in TJ Maxx there were hits! I first and foremost always visit the handbags section. There I found a array of new Rag & Bone styles. I saw the MINI PILOT BAG and ENFIELD MINI BAG for $199. I found two SMALL PILOT BAG for $299 and a LARGE PILOT BAG for $399. These prices are better than what is currently online for these bags. They also had a Valentino mini Rockstud tote for $1499. This is not great  for the mini-tote after our great Century 21 Medium totes we found last month.

I then moved on to the Runway section and was sad to report there was not even a single rack of clearance which I was surprised to find. However I did see a striped number peaking out of the dress rack and knew it was from the Valentino 1973 collection. It was the lone markdown designer item at $1399 ( note: I will be watching this dress to go down further).

In shoes I was able to find a number of pumps and boots red tagged for a 1st markdown. I saw various Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Charlotte Olympia, Kate Spades, and Coach. I personally feel that one should wait until at least 2nd markdown at TJ Maxx. Also various location  may have different prices for the same items. I learned that from speaking with various sales associates over time.

After shoes I decided to do one more lap around the handbags. There I found this hot pink bag that had 3 markdowns for a final price of $39.99. At that point of course the designer tags were gone, but by the design it was a no suprise; this was a Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. They had the original price listed at $158, but I know that's the price of the mini mac. This bag definitely was not the mini mac. The mini has 4 studs on the bottom, and this particular bag had five.  So with a MAC original retail at $295 this bag was a steal at almost 90% off. As you can see the bottom left corner had a few scuffs, but I was able to get that off when I got home. So its as good as new.

I love the neon pink color and think it will go great against my navy winter coat I scored at the Emilio Pucci sample sale in April. As always style pics are soon to come with my new Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. bag this season.
